MRS. SOUTH CAROLINA 2015
Ronnetta Griffin of Greenville, South Carolina was crowned Mrs. South Carolina 2015 on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Charles Mack Citizen Center Auditorium in Mooresville, North Carolina in front of a sellout crowd.
Ronnetta has been married for 22 years to Tommy, a Resident Agent-in-Charge with the US Secret Service, and together they are raising sons Thomas, age 17, and Teddy, age 14. Ronnetta is a graduate of Columbia College, a former Miss South Carolina and the owner of Carolina Chic, a soy candle company recently featured in Southern Living magazine. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Miss South Carolina Scholarship Organization (Miss America) and is the Queen's Gifts Sponsors Chair.
An active and lifelong volunteer, she also serves on the Board of Directors of the Iron Disorders Institute and is one of only three Certified Iron Educators in the world. Her non-profit organization, Get Your Iron Up, her website, www.getyourironup.org, YouTube videos and social media campaigns have allowed her to use her own medical crisis to help thousands of women improve their health and even save their own lives.
Ronnetta also enjoys donating her time and energy to local charities including LADYBugs (Lindley's Alliance for Disabled Youth) Across America and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. She is especially moved by Upstate Backpack Blessings, a program headed by Alice Prevatt, a former school cafeteria employee who saw the need for feeding hungry students over the weekend when school lunches aren't available. Ronnetta recognized that need when she was a substitute teacher when her boys were in elementary school and and she is thrilled to be able to help organize food drives and raise awareness with marketing and public relations, including recently building a website for the worthy organization.
Ronnetta was honored to compete in the Mrs. America pageant in Las Vegas, Nevada in September 2015.
